Statewide Issuance With the new statewide issuance law now in effect, if the vital record you are requesting falls within the dates listed below you can obtain the copies from any Register of Deeds office in the State of Wisconsin. Birth, death and marriage records requested prior to the dates listed below can only be obtained from the County in which the event occurred. Divorce records prior to 1/1/2016 may only be obtained from the State Vital Records Office. Beginning January 2, 2020, all marriage records from October 1, 1907, to the present will be available for statewide issuance. Records available for statewide issuance: Birth Certificates - from 10/1/1907 to present Death Certificates - from 9/1/2013 to present Marriage Certificates - 6/2/2015 to present Divorce Certificates - 1/1/2016 to present Tribal Marriage or Divorce - 1/1/2016 to present ***FOR OFFICE WALK INS: Due to the change in how our office now obtains vital records, it may take 15 to 20 minutes to receive a copy of the requested record in person. NOTE : The cost of the above vital records are for both certified and uncertified copies. Requesters must provide identification and demonstrate direct and tangible interest to receive certified copies. Military Discharge Papers (DD214s) Florence County Register of Deeds records and provides free certified copies of military discharge papers recorded by our office. It is highly recommended that you have your discharge papers recorded in case the originals are ever lost, damaged or destroyed. Discharge papers are highly valuable to veterans because they may be required to prove eligibility for certain benefits and programs.
