We assist local landowners, residents, and community partners by offering conservation education, technical guidance, and cost-share opportunities that support responsible land and water stewardship.

Our work focuses on safeguarding long-term soil productivity, improving water quality, and addressing serios erosion concers throughout the county.
We collabrorate with landowners each year to implement practical conservation projects such as erosion-reduction measures, shoreline stabilization, invasive species management, and farmland preservation efforts. These initiative help maintain the health,beauty, and resilience of Florence County's landscapes and waterways.

Education and community engagement are central to our mission. We provide resources, outreach programs, and youth opportunities to inspire environmental stewarship across all ages. Our team operates from the Florence County Courthouse and encourages resident to reach out for support, information, and partnership opportunities.

Together, we are working to ensure Florence County's land and water resources remain vibrant and sustainable for generations to come.

Our Goals and Priorities

Florence County's Land and Water Resource Management (LWRM) Plan provides the foundation for setting and achieving the county's conservation goals. The plan outlines a long-term, comprehensive strategy for implementing soil and water conservation practices througout Florence County. It is develped in collaboration with local, state, and federal partners and serves as a guiding framework for protecting natural resources, improving water quality, addressing erosion concerns, and supporting sustainalbe land use across the county. 

The six goals outlines in the LWRM include:

Goal #1: To promote, protect, and enhance shorelands, wetlands, and surface water resources.

Goal #2: To protect land and water ecosystems from invasive species

Goal #3: Increase public environmental education and participation

Goal #4: Promote healhty forests to improve soil and water quality

Goal #5: Protect, enhance, and restore soil resources

Goal #6: Protect ground water quality
