Healthy Lakes and Rivers
Florence County Land Conservation Department administers Wisconin's Healhty Lakes & Rivers (HLR) progarm, a statewide initiative led by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) in partnership with local governments, lake and river oganizations, and property owners. The program's purpose is to protect and restore the health of Wisconsin's lakes and rivers by promoting simple, cost-effective shoreline conservation practices.
Five different shoreline practices are funded under the Healthy Lakes and Rivers Program including fish sticks, native plantings, diversion practices, rock infiltration, and rain gardens. Funding will typically procide up to $1,000 per practice.
Those interested in recieving assistance for improved shoreline habitat should reach out to the department to schedule a site visit and to be added to the application list.
