Invasive species: The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has identified many species as invasive species in NR 40 as they threaten local ecosystem functioning and biodiversity levels. Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in Florence County have been identified, are being monitored, and in if possible are being treated. Florence County is a partner with the Wild Rivers Invasive Species Coalition, a cooperative partnership working across five counties in northeast Wisconsin and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to stop the spread of invasive species.
