Florence County Courthouse will be closed the following holidays:
New Years Day
Presidents' Day
Friday before Easter
Memorial Day
Independence Day
Labor Day
Thanksgiving
Day after Thanksgiving
Christmas Eve
Christmas Day
New Year's Eve
If any of the above mentioned holidays falls on Saturday, it shall be observed the preceding Friday and if a holiday falls on Sunday, it shall be observed on the following Monday.

Mission Statement
The Florence County Planning, Zoning, Recycling & Solid Waste Department has the mission of protecting and promoting the public health, safety and general welfare of Florence County. It is further our mission to protect forested, agricultural, residential, business and manufacturing uses from harmful or detrimental encroachment by incompatible uses. Guidance from the Land Use & Lake Protection Plan will ensure that future growth occurs in an orderly fashion so that natural resources are conserved and property values are maintained.
The FACTS - Every year Americans create 1,200 lbs. of solid waste per person.
- America produces 101 lbs. of plastic each year per person on Earth.
- Every year 850 million trees are cut down.
- It takes 30-50% less energy to make New paper from old.
How can you help? - Reduce the number of things you throw away.
- Reuse as many things as possible.
- Find out where you can recycle things locally.
- Look for the recycling symbol on packaging in stores and supermarkets.
