General Information Oversight Emergency Management in Florence County operates as a division of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and is performed under the oversight of one State Agency and three County agencies. They are Wisconsin Emergency Management, part of the Department of Military Affairs, the Florence County Board of Supervisors, the Florence County Personnel, Law Enforcement and Emergency Management Committee and the Florence County Local Emergency Planning Committee. Each of these agencies provides input and guidance for the development of our emergency management programs. Florence County Emergency Management operates under the authority of Wisconsin Statutes Chapter 323. Mission Statement To coordinate effective disaster response and recovery efforts in support of local governments. Through planning, training and exercising we prepare ourselves, our citizens and response personnel to minimize the loss of lives and property. Duties Develop emergency management plans for Florence County consistent with Federal and State emergency management plans. Coordinate and assist in the development of municipal plans. Direct Florence County’s Emergency Management Program. Direct Florence County’s emergency management activities during a disaster declaration. Perform other duties relating to Emergency Management as required by the Florence County Board of Supervisors.
